During the month of February 2020, work will commence on upgrades to the Long-Runway at Flinders Island Whitemark Airport. These works are essential to ensure the safe and compliant operations of the airport for many years ahead.

Every endeavour will be made by Sharp Airlines to meet your travel arrangements, however our schedule will be varied during this period to reflect the works being undertaken. The varied schedule can be viewed here.

Over the last four years the Flinders Island Airport Long-Runway has undergone repairs and now requires a substantial upgrade.

This work has been planned for several months and Sharp Airlines have worked with the Flinders Island Council to ensure minimum disruption to its normal operating schedule during this time.

The $3.6million upgrade to the runway has been on Council’s priority list for some years and Council now has received Federal and Tasmanian State Government funding assistance for the upgrade to take place.

Sharp Airlines is the only airline providing regular public transport services to Whitemark & Flinders Island. The passenger taxes and landing charges imposed by Council all contribute to the upkeep of this important and essential community infrastructure asset.

We apologise for any inconvenience to travel arrangements should you be affected. Our customer service representatives will do all they possibly can to assist travellers during this time and can be contacted on 1300 556 694.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you aboard soon.
